It's the start of April, spring is upon us and it's time to get on with life and enjoy each others company. I do hope that everyone is staying safe and and well and have been vaccinated. We are going to have the reunion come hell or high water. If you made a reservation at the Hotel you should be ready to go please check with the hotel to make sure. Also if you sent in and paid for the 2020 reunion you are still good. The 16th annual 5th Maintenance Battalion Reunion has been finalized and we are ready to book the hotel. The dates will be: Check in on Sunday Aug. 15 through Thursday the 19th. Room rates are 116.00 and subject to 9.0% tax and $2.00 City Occupancy tax (or current rates) Daily check-in time is after 4:00 pm and check-out time is 11:00 am All rates are based on 1-4 person occupancy in each room Room block may be increased if necessary, based on availability. Individuals will call the Best Western Rapid City Ramkota at (605) 343-8550 to reserve a guest room. Guests must specify they are with 5th Maintenance Battalion to receive the special group rate. Guests must call the hotel directly to make reservations. The special group rate and room block are NOT available online or at the Best Western reservation website. Make sure to book your rooms directly with the hotel because that is how we get the free hospitality room.
Rapid City:
A little about Rapid City. Rapid City was founded in 1876, the result of gold being discovered in the Black Hills. Completed in 1941, Mt Rushmore is a major tourist attraction about 25 miles southwest of Rapid City. The South Dakota Air and Space Museum, about 15 minutes away, is home to 150 minuteman missile siloes
and tours of a missile solo are available. Rapid City is known as The City Of Presidents not only for Mount Rushmore, but for the 43 life-size bronze presidential statues on the street corners throughout downtown. See if you can find them all. Also in 2011 it was named the Most Patriotic Small City in the United States.

Courtesy shuttle service is available for airport transportation. Area transportation within the city limits is available on a first come first serve basis only. We are unable to accommodate advanced group reservation requests for shuttle service.
ROOM BLOCK/LOCATION:
The Ramkota Hotel will strive to ensure your rooms are blocked together and are located on the ground floor, if possible, but cannot guarantee this. Hospitality Room Group will be allowed to bring in dry snacks and alcoholic beverage into the Hospitality space. Minervas will provide up to 40lbs of ice and garbage removal daily. There will be A Cash bar during the Farewell dinner in the Minervas Banquet room and they will provide our group with a $4 Signature Cocktail for their banquet.
