Getting there
Unfortunately the hotel does not have a shuttle to and from the airports. Here are four (4) airports you can take to Gettysburg and approximate drive times.
If you are driving and coming in from the west you might want to think about visiting the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pa. or visiting it on the way home. If you are looking for something to do outside of Gettysburg it is about 115 miles.
Things to do
Some of you have asked about a bus trip to Washington,DC because it is about 90 miles away. With our age and health this might be our last time to visit the "Wall" I got a quote for a bus to go to Washington on Tuesday Sept. 24th. I will need to know how many people want to go. I will then have a price per person. Remember the more people that go the lower the price will be. Again the sooner the better. I have been told it takes an average of 2 -3 days to explore the Battlefield ,the town, and all the museums, shops and all attractions in the area. Gettysburg is not all about the Civil War. There is are quite a few shops and an outlet mall also some nice little places to eat like the historic 1776 Dobbin House Tavern. I have eaten there 2 times in the basement bar with the fire place. If those walls could talk.
There are a couple wineries and I also found a VFW and American Legion Post serving cheap beers. They also have ghost tours in the evenings. You can drive to Hershey, Pa. 50 miles, or Lancaster, Pa 55 miles to see how the Amish live. For you bikers there is a Harley-Davidson factory tour in York,Pa about 30 miles. One more thing, I would suggest that everybody call 1-800-337-5015, and get a free copy of the 2019 Gettysburg planner The planner is can also be ordered or downloadeh at thier web site. It has everything about Gettysburg in it, places to eat and places to see. Also you might want to go on Ebay and buy the DVD Gettysburg a good movie about the Battle of Gettysburg. The cost is about $6.00 You will see and hear what happen to this tiny town over a 150 years ago.
